The Shred Report – April 30th, 2009

Nattefrost (Nattefrost/Carpathian Forest) and Fenriz' Red Planet (Darkthrone) have signed with Indie Recordings for the release of the split album Engangsgrill, which sees the two musicians team up for "a rock n roll experience that explores the borderline between black metal, stoner, and classic rock." Nattefrost contributes five tracks which include rare and unreleased material, while Fenriz contributes three tracks of 70s/80s-style doom. The Nattefrost track "Nekronaut II" can currently be heard on his MySpace page.

Engangsgrill track listing as follows:

Side Nebulah - Fenriz' Red Planet Side Lustmord - Nattefrost
1: My ship Sailed Without Me 4: Nekronaut II
2: Jon Carter, Man On Mars 5: Uskyldighet
3: Temple Of The Red Dawn Rising 6: Sin Goddammit
  7: Lustmord
  8: Humiliated And Pissed Upon

The album will be available in both CD and LP formats and is scheduled for release on May 11th. Sounds like something that is only worthy of the kVltest of the kVlt.

Goatwhore has announced Carving Out the Eyes of God as the title of their new studio album. The follow-up to 2006's A Haunting Curse (a personal top ten pick of mine for that year) was recorded with producer Erik Rutan at Manna Studios in Florida. Vocalist Ben Falgoust describes it as "ripping metal" that is "another step in the evolution of [Goatwhore]." Guitarist Sammy Duet simply calls it "Dark, heavy, evil." Sounds like my kind of record, and I'm definitely looking forward to this one, which is scheduled for release on June 23rd. The band is about to wrap up a tour with Metal Blade labelmates Amon Amarth and Lazrus A.D., and will be hitting the road again in the fall with the mighty lineup of Obituary, Krisiun, the Berserker, and Warbringer. Before that, they will be playing as part of the Central Illinois Metalfest, which takes place on July 31st - August 1st at the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL.

Testament will be hitting the road this month for a six-week North American run. This, their first proper U.S. headlining tour in support of the critically-acclaimed The Formation of Damnation, is a real "old school meets new school" affair with support coming from metalcore frontrunners Unearth and modern day thrashers Lazarus A.D. as support. Naturally, the tour will wrap on June 12th in the band's hometown of San Francisco at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium. The band will take a short break after that before heading over to Europe for five weeks of dates and a number of festival appearances, including MetalCamp (July 4th), Wacken Open Air (July 31st), and Ankka Rock Fest (August 2nd).

  1. I think it’s great Better Left Unsaid is receiving national attention for for their video. I know using one cam to do all that was a mother fucker and to say anything less is being too modest. The video is bitchin and I’ve contributed at least 6 of my own plays to your player so far lol.

I also think A Place for Metal is an over inflated link page for nationals but, still it’s kill they get to score on the attention that page does provide.

Kudos for the score guy’s but I think it’s time your music is promoted somewhere more substantial than Myspace something like interviews with Kerrang or Metal Edge.

Then everyone get’s to learn more about who you are, instead of just more plays on your Music or Video players. Someone starts a petition or promotion towards something like that I’ll be glad to offer up my email addy and name for and won’t mind forwarding it on to my friends to do so too. : )
