The Shred Report – April 30th, 2009

It took a little time, but The Venting Machine is proud to announce Ben Pena (ex-Fire Through Shadows) as their new vocalist. The band is currently in pre-production for the follow-up to 2007’s critically-acclaimed A Death to Your Scene and is eager to unleash Pena onto the public - and I'm just as eager to hear it. The Venting Machine have long been one of THE top bands in Northern California and perhaps now the mystery as to why they remain unsigned will be resolved.

On a related note, I’m keeping my eyes on Amidst the Wolves, a new band featuring former TVM vocalist Josh Hoover. With his mighty throat powering this band, I can almost guarantee that they will be a crushing unit. Based on early demos, it sounds like I’m right. Check them out for yourselves at http://www.myspace.com/amidstthewolves, and watch out for their debut album Victims, scheduled for release later this year.

If you're like me and have been wondering whatever became of Indiana-based drunken thrashers Demiricous, then you'll want to read this. Management problems resulted in the band having to sell their van and trailer and use the money to pay off various debt - and firing their manager. Then guitarist Scott Wilson left the band to pursue a life outside of music. To top it off, they mutually agreed to part ways with Metal Blade Records. Pretty shitty, eh? Sounds pretty shitty, eh? Well, the band isn't letting any of that stop them. They've recruited not one, but TWO new guitarists (Scott Bronner and Mike Morgan) to give them a three guitar attack as they work on new material. There should be some new demo recordings available by summer, just in time for the band to play some live shows. Never let the bastards wear ya down, I always say.

  1. I think it’s great Better Left Unsaid is receiving national attention for for their video. I know using one cam to do all that was a mother fucker and to say anything less is being too modest. The video is bitchin and I’ve contributed at least 6 of my own plays to your player so far lol.

I also think A Place for Metal is an over inflated link page for nationals but, still it’s kill they get to score on the attention that page does provide.

Kudos for the score guy’s but I think it’s time your music is promoted somewhere more substantial than Myspace something like interviews with Kerrang or Metal Edge.

Then everyone get’s to learn more about who you are, instead of just more plays on your Music or Video players. Someone starts a petition or promotion towards something like that I’ll be glad to offer up my email addy and name for and won’t mind forwarding it on to my friends to do so too. : )
