The Shred Report - November 1, 2007

It’s time again for the Raginpit Magazine Shred Report. I trust everyone had a fun, but safe Halloween. I can’t believe it’s almost time for the holidays. With exception of Halloween, I personally don’t care much for them, but that’s because I’m a grinch. On with the show…

- In December, STD will be heading into Clear Sounds Studio in Sacramento, CA to begin recording their first full-length album. Manning the board will be David Owens with Steve Mahoney (STD) producing and Kenny Mendoza as Executive Producer.

- Sacred Storm is looking for a bassist. If you think you have what it takes to thrash along with them, check out their site for details and how to contact them.

- Obscene Gesture has recently released a full-length album entitled Living in Profanity and it contains “37 minutes of cyco mayhem.” You can get a CD or download it from iTunes, check the site for how you can pick it up!

- Devastator has posted a new track on their myspace page entitled “Hellraisers” from their recently completed EP Slaughtered Like Pigs. You can pick this EP up for 5 bucks. Check the site and support the old-school thrash.

- Set It Straight will be playing their final show November 17th at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA. This final show coincides with Sabertooth Zombie’s 10” record release. You can find out details about the show and the 10" from Twelve Gauge Records.

- Devil’s Son-In-Law recently shot segments for a music video for their song “Seaworthy,” for release in early 2008. The video is directed by Gary Smithson (High On Fir, Exodus, Goatwhore), so keep an eye out for that. The band is also offering their 5-song EP for free high-quality download (including artwork) through their label, Moshpit Tragedy Records.

- Behind the Suit and Tie is a feature documentary that takes an in-depth look into the heavy metal recording industry, and will begin production early this month.

And that does it for the local stuff, let‘s see what‘s going on nationally…

- Ministry bassist Paul Raven was found dead in a small French village on the Swiss border, with initial reports stating that he passed of a heart attack. Raven has played with many bands, including Killing Joke and Prong. Rest In Peace, Mr. Raven.

- Hellyeah will be releasing the live DVD, Below the Belt, on November 13th and will include a 2-hour look into the band’s life on the road, interviews, live performances, and music videos.

- Alabama Thunderpussy have headed over to Europe for a month-long tour, including the UK, Italy, France, and areas in between. They are touring machines, as they just wrapped up a month-long stint with Obituary here in the US.

- Chthonic will be supporting Marduk on an upcoming tour of Europe as well. Fresh off the Ozzfest, the Taiwanese black metal band will be hitting the stage all over Europe, bringing their unique sound to UK and surrounding countries.

That is it for this week.

Peace,
The Shocker
