Welcome to 2008! I want to wish all you punks and metalheads a happy new year and I hope this one turns out to be better than the last. We have some exciting plans here at Raginpit Magazine for the upcoming year so make sure to come check the site every day so you don't miss a thing. Let’s see what our underground scene is up to as we head into a new year.

Diseptikons

Sacramento hardcore punk band Diseptikons are back and will be playing a show at the Distillery on January 26th, being sporadically active over the last 10 years. This is a show I personally will try to make. Check the flyer on their myspace page for details.

Thunderhorse

Thunderhorse has some new merch available for purchase online through www.zazzle.com. Check out their myspace for the details on how to get ahold of some swag and sign up for their mailing list while you’re there.

Tomorrow’s Tragedy

Tomorrow’s Tragedy, a metal band from Maine will be releasing an album entitled "Near Dark" on January 4th, and will be available through Snocap and in CD form from their myspace page. The band is currently shopping for a label for distribution. They will also be embarking on a U.S. tour in June of this year so check ‘em out.

From down in the So Cal area, Syndicate 13 has started to play some shows and seem to be garnering a good fan base. The band is looking to play some shows up and down California, so keep a lookout for them in a town near you.

This year’s list of Grammy Nominees has been released and the metal category included King Diamond, Slayer, Machine Head, Shadows Fall, and As I Lay Dying

Hate Eternal

Hate Eternal have announced the title of their newest album. They will be calling it "Fury" album, mainly due to the recent passing of bassist Jared Anderson. Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse fame handled tracking the bass for the album, but due to his main gig with Cannibal, will not be able to hit the road with Hate Eternal on their upcoming tour with Metal Blade label mates The Black Dahlia Murder.

Exodus

Headbanger’s Ball have premiered new videos from Exodus (“Riot Act”) and Nile ("Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In The Water"). If you missed them in December, you can catch them at www.headbangersblog.mtv.com.

Testament

Testament are hard at work on The Formation of Damnation, their first studio album in 9 years (finally!) at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley with producer Andy Sneap. Not only is this their long-awaited album, it is the first album in over a decade with original members Chuck Billy, Alex Skolnick (YES!), Eric Peterson, and Greg Christian. Testament re-recruited Paul Bostaph to tear shit up on drums. I personally am looking forward to this one!

Well, I think that will do it for this month. Check back next time for the underground buzz that shreds!
