We stick with it for the most part and the fact that it’s lasted 25 years is a testament to the creative uniqueness of what GWAR is and the fact that, I mean shit, if we couldn’t play our instruments, we’d end up like Lordi’s going to be in two years. I mean, you know we can play and our fucking fans love our shit, they love the show and there you go. We kick ass.

...I would make it a note to go out to every local band’s show that I befriended or even caught my interest slightly and really try to help everybody work together and try to get the other bands involved, so that everybody could just have a fan base grow around the entire scene.

Two years, no singer and I was singing for another band. I got fired from my job and fired from my band on the same day, so then I hit up Randy and said, "dude, you need a vocalist, right?" He's like, "yeah." So I went down there and tried out and fucken made it. He had quit like a week before. He said, "fuck it, I'm out, man. Fuck it." That's the way it's gonna be. You watch, like in 20 years maybe even less, they'll have death metal in commercials and all kinds of shit. I'm not saying that's good, but I'm saying it's very possible. I mean, just the fact that you have bands with blast beats in the top 10 is something I never would have believed was even possible, like when we started out.
